ASUS is all set to unveil its latest ZenFone 8 series of smartphones in the global markets on May 12. In the run-up to the launch event, the brand has also created a countdown microsite, mentioning that the line-up will be "Big on Performance" and "Compact in Size," which is evidently hinted at its flagship ZenFone 8 Mini model.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini, codenamed Sake, will come as a compact device featuring a notch-less edge-to-edge display, slim bezels, and an integrated fingerprint sensor. It may have a rotating dual camera setup on the rear. The handset is likely to bear a 5.92-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2400 pixels) OLED screen with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini is expected to sport a dual rear camera module, including a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor and a Sony IMX663 secondary lens. The setup may offer a rotating mechanism, which can then work as a selfie camera.

The ASUS ZenFone 8 Mini will draw power from a Snapdragon 888 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM. Details regarding the storage configurations are unclear for now. It will run on Android 11 and may pack a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast-charging support.

The smartphone should also offer support for the Cirrus CS35L45 amplifier along with the latest connectivity options. ASUS may launch two more smartphones in the 8-series, codenamed Picasso and VODKA.

The Picasso model may feature a 120Hz, 6.67-inch Full-HD+ OLED screen, and a Pixel i6 visual processor. It is expected to offer a 64MP triple rear camera setup and a 24MP selfie snapper. It will sport a Snapdragon 888 chipset. Details regarding the third model are scarce at the moment.

The official pricing and availability details of the ZenFone 8 series will be announced at the time of the launch, which is scheduled for May 12. However, considering the expected specifications, the ZenFone 8 Mini may cost around Rs. 55,000.
