Redmi 9i finally launched in India as a new entry-level smartphone from Xiaomi. Redmi 9 series adds a new smartphone ‘Redmi 9i’ after Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, and the Redmi 9 Prime that were released in the country about a month ago. The smartphone features a notched display, big battery, single rear camera, and brand new octa-core processor from MediaTek. The device comes in two RAM and storage options.

Redmi 9i features a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS LCD WaterDrop Notch display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core chipset, coupled with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The handset runs MIUI 12 based on Android 10 OS out of the box. The onboard storage can be expanded by a microSD card up to 512 GB. In terms of dimensions, the device measures 164.9×77.07x9mm and weigh 194 grams.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Redmi 9i comes with a single 13 MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the smartphone has a 5 MP camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture inside a waterdrop notch. The new handset is packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging. 

Xiaomi claimed that it uses Enhanced Lifespan Battery (ELB) technology, and using this technology the smartphone battery is said to last three years without losing capacity. For Connectivity, the Redmi 9i includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a Micro-USB port. For security the smartphone has an AI face unlock and the phone is splash resistant because of P2i coating. 

For pricing and availability, the Redmi 9i is launched in two storage options, the 4GB + 64GB variant is priced at Rs. 8,299 and the 4GB + 128GB variant is priced at Rs. 9,299. The phone has three color options namely, Nature Green, Midnight Black, and Sea Blue. The phone will go on sale for the first time in India on September 18 at 12 pm via e-commerce platform website Flipkart, Mi Home and the offline retail stores as well.
