Charlie Puth has just released his 3rd studio album entitled CHARLIE, Friday October 7, 2022. The CHARLIE album contains 12 of Charlie Puth's newest song titles, including one of the collaboration songs with Jungkook BTS , Left and Right. The song was released earlier as the opening act for CHARLIE's album along with two other songs, That's Hilarious and Light Switch.
So far, Left And Right has become one of the most successful singles on CHARLIE's album which was able to collect 227 million views on YouTube. Not only that, Left And Right is also the fastest song to reach 300 million streams on Spotify by a K-pop soloist. To celebrate the release of his new album, Charlie opened a question and answer session and invited fans to chat directly with him via voicemail on Twitter Space.
One of the fans then asked about how the story behind his collaboration with Jungkook could be created. “ You know what's funny? I actually didn't even consider Left And Right just me and Jungkook showing up when the album was basically done ," Charlie replied. Charlie Puth revealed that his latest album is a true representation of him.
At first he didn't plan a collaboration on the album, because he wanted CHARLIE to be about him only. " But then I realized while listening to Left And Right, that it felt like it could be a very special moment, having someone else's perspective on what I consider a classic ." “ …you know, Jungkook doesn't speak English, just like I don't speak Korean. But we can still communicate smoothly through the melody structure and chord changes ,” he added.
Charlie Puth said that music is a universal language and for that reason, he was very happy to have Jungkook on the recording of the song. The question and answer session continued, other fans asked about the plot of the Left and Right music video. Charlie explains that Left and Right is not just about a relationship but can be seen as something that can't be forgotten.
“ It (the music video) was really about me and Jungkook. Our own personal perspective. That's why we're a little bit in our own world. Like, when I enter the video wearing something really bright, I forget the color, and Jungkook is wearing a bright pink. He's in his own world and so am I ," Charlie said. In the conversation on Twitter Spaces, Charlie also revealed the possibility of appearing with Jungkook to bring Left and Right in a special event.
