2023 is a new year for BIGBANG's Taeyang. Apart from announcing his move from YG Entertainment to The Black Label, he also surprised fans with his collaboration with BTS's Jimin. Entitled Vibe, this is the first single released by Taeyang after 6 years of music vacuum.
He last greeted fans through an album titled White Night which was released in 2017, before then undergoing military service. Through his collaboration with Jimin, Taeyang released an upbeat song that made listeners want to dance along. There is a nostalgic feel through the selected beat, but it still seems trendy.
In addition, this is a deadly duet between BTS and BIGBANG members that never could have happened before. Taeyang and Jimin complement each other through all the similarities they have. Ahead of the release of Vibe, Taeyang underwent an interview with Rolling Stone. He revealed how the initial collaboration with Jimin could be realized.
"About 2 years ago, Teddy at The Black Label, was watching me work. At that time the BTS members didn't do much solo activity, and Teddy mentioned in passing that he thought people would be very happy if Jimin and I collaborated," said Taeyang . "That sentence really stuck in my mind, and I think it was a good idea. So I always remember it," he explained.
Until 2022, BTS began to carry out more solo activities and attend a number of events. At one of the private meetings, Taeyang met the members, including Jimin, and started talking about collaborations. "Last summer I had the opportunity to meet BTS members at various private gatherings.
Through those meetings, we naturally ate together, and I met Jimin too," Taeyang continued. "The conversation came very naturally, 'We've got a few songs put together, would you be interested in working together?' And Jimin said he really wanted to. After that, he came to our studio and we played music for him. He really liked it, "he concluded.
