Shocking news was delivered by SM Entertainment. EXO's Kai will be enlisting in the military in the near future. This was very surprising, especially among the fans. EXO is known to be currently preparing for a comeback which is planned to be carried out by all complete members.
However, through an official statement from management, EXO's Kai is reported to be enlisting in the military on May 11, 2023. This sudden decision occurred due to a change in rules in the military. "We have to convey sudden news to fans regarding Kai's military service," SM Entertainment opened.
"Kai is preparing to participate in EXO's comeback this year, but due to a recent change in regulations in the Military Manpower Administration, he will enter the army recruitment training center on May 11," management continued. "Kai will later receive basic military training and will follow it as a public service officer," explained SM Entertainment.
Management emphasized that there would be no special events to accompany Kai to military service. Thus, SM Entertainment chose to keep the idol's training location a secret. "Out of respect for Kai's wish to enlist quietly, the location and time of enlistment will not be disclosed," said SM Entertainment.
"On that day there won't be any special events so we ask for fans' understanding. As for the EXO album release plan , we will provide further information after it is confirmed. Thank you," he concluded. Kai is the seventh member of EXO to enlist in the military. Xiumin, DO, Suho, Chen, Chanyeol, and Baekhyun have completed their duties and are preparing for EXO's comeback after a long time.
