A special room commemorating the late ASTRO's Moonbin will be set up at Namsan Fortress National Cultural Heritage in South Korea. Reporting from Allkpop June 4, 2023, on June 4 local time, ASTRO's agency Fantagio said, "We fully sympathize with Aroha's (as ASTRO fans') sad feelings for wanting to honor the late Moonbin for a longer period of time.
By therefore, after lengthy discussions with bereaved family members, we set up an off-site memorial hall." Although Moonbin is not a Buddhist, his family requested that a memorial hall be opened at Gukcheongsa, a Buddhist temple in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.
The agency Fantagio revealed that they hope that this special room, which will open at 5.30 am on June 7 local time, will become one of the places that the public can visit comfortably to get comfort and calm their hearts even if only a little.
The agency also requested that those visiting the memorial hall not leave food offerings due to the shrine's location in the mountains making it difficult to preserve it due to insects and other potential problems. However, fans may leave letters and notes which will be collected periodically.
The agency will install a board to attach note paper, while letters from fans can be placed in the box provided. Meanwhile, the current memorial hall located on the roof of the Fantagio building will officially close at midnight June 6, commemorating the 49th anniversary of Moonbin's passing.
In Korean tradition, it is believed that the spirit of the deceased will last for 49 days before leaving the world. Letters and gifts from fans that have been placed in the memorial hall will be collected and handed over to the bereaved family. Moonbin died on April 19, 2023, at the age of 25.
His departure left deep sorrow for many. ASTRO members, including former ASTRO member Rocky, Moonbin's younger sister Moon Sua , and many other colleagues in the entertainment industry have visited the memorial hall to express their longing for the late Moonbin.
