SM Entertainment said that EXO-CBX (Chen, Baekhyun, Xiumin)'s decision to terminate their exclusive contract with management was the influence of a third party. In its statement, SM Entertainment said that the third party deliberately wanted to disrupt the relationship between the artists and management, as well as with the other remaining members.

"The actions of outsiders to influence them are of course illegal. There is also a desire to create conflict between artists and management, as well as between artists and artists. We will not remain silent seeing that there are other parties who want to gain profits, we will take firm action," said the party SM Entertainment quoted from Star Today.

"We will do our best to meet the expectations of fans who truly love our artists by legally responding to those who seek to divide our artists," they continued. Now, EXO-CBX has issued their official statement. Through their attorney, Lee Jae Hak, EXO-CBX denied that there was pressure from a third party that prompted their decision to terminate the exclusive contract with SM Entertainment.

The lawyer for EXO-CBX firmly stated that SM had accused them of splitting public opinion. "Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin were very depressed after seeing SM Entertainment's official statement which continued to talk about third parties influencing their decisions. Especially because they had seen clearly how SM looked at this matter," Lee Jae Hak's attorney opened in his statement.

"Our artists are adults who can think and take responsibility for their decisions, they are also individuals with independent minds and decision-making. For a decade, they have had doubts, all fears and questions that they dared not raise since their debut. can't talk about it now. They've heard many people's opinions about what's good, what should be done to find the right solution.

These people include relatives and family, seniors and juniors in the music industry, colleagues, even staff who have been work with them." "Of these people there are those who express concern, provide encouragement, and support. Regarding SM's accusations, of course it has to be seen which of these people fall into the category of third parties with bad influences.

Our artists are humans who can make their own decisions and act on their own. Their decision to fight for rights such as asking for payment transparency after long thought certainly does not include intervention from a third party," emphasized the attorney for EXO-CBX. The news about EXO-CBX ending their contract with SM Entertainment came out on June 1, 2023.
