South Korean drama 'King the Land' has been a highly anticipated show since its announcement and especially after the reveal of the main cast as Im Yoona and Lee Jun Ho. The two K-pop idols, now enjoy a huge following for their acting, thanks to popular projects like Big Mouth and The Red Sleeve.
K-dramas have garnered global interest thanks to their availability on Netflix apart from its domestic distributor JTBC. However, there are still no shows in India. YoonA and Junho star has steadily climbed the ladder of fame, climbing from 5 percent viewership ratings in South Korea for its premiere to an impressive 12 percent for its latest episode in the span of a few weeks.
While domestically it did very well, King the Land also had a beguiled international audience. As such, the event has skyrocketed to the top by grabbing the No. 1 spot. 1 in the Global Netflix Top 10 for non-English TV list. For the charting period of June 26 to July 2 (or the 5th week of June), the show has received over 4 million views.
It has now become the first non-Netflix Korean title to top the list in 2023, after doing so in an impressive 3 weeks of run. Moreover, he managed to do so even though the show remains off the game in Latin America and India. Recently, the main actors' agencies YoonA and Junho denied the relationship rumors between the two, stating that they are just good friends.
Reports of a possible date only fueled interest in the show where the two play Cheon Sarang and Goo Won, respectively. With the show's love story developing, the desire to see the stars together off-screen also seems to have increased with fans.
The show premiered on June 17, 2023 and follows a hotelier named Cheon Sarang, and a chaebol heir named Goo Won who get off on the wrong foot but soon start developing feelings for one another. A total of 6 episodes of King the Land have aired so far.
