On August 23, 2023, JTBC's newest drama ' Destined With You ' held a press conference which was attended by the cast including Rowoon, Jo Bo Ah, Ha Jun, and Yura. During the press conference, the cast shared their interesting behind-the-scenes stories for the drama for the first time.
Rowoon honestly mentioned the preparations he made for his acting comeback by proving his dedication to portraying the character. Rowoon confessed that he had lost almost 8 kg (17.6 lbs) in weight for the role of Jang Shin Yu. The actor idol who is known to have good features and body posture is known to always maintain fitness despite his busy schedule.
He was never fat or too thin, but many were surprised by Rowoon's transformation in 'Destined With You'. The actor explained why he did the weight loss procedure. He said “Because the character Jang Shin Yu has a family history of illness, I lost about 8 kg.”
With a hint of humor, Rowoo continued, “That's why I look a bit better looking. I'm also grateful because it makes me look more like a manhwa." Rowoon also showed off his sharper jawline which made him look like a webtoon character during the press conference.
Meanwhile, 'Destined With You' itself tells of a genius lawyer named Jang Shin Yu (Rowoon) who is affected by a hereditary curse and Lee Hong Jo (Jo Bo Ah), a civil servant who suddenly becomes the owner of a forbidden book which has been sealed since 300 years last year.
It turns out that the book is the key to the freedom of Jang Shin Yu's curse, so that the two of them have to be trapped in a relationship that was not anticipated before. The drama 'Destined With You' has officially aired starting August 23 and filled the Wednesday-Thursday slot on JTBC.
According to Nielsen Korea, the premiere of the drama recorded an average viewing score of 2.9 percent. Which is a good start. On its second day of broadcast, Rowoon and Jo Bo Ah's drama experienced a slight drop in ratings, gaining an average viewership of 2.4 percent nationwide.
Despite the change in ratings, the series received enthusiastic response from viewers for its fresh and interesting storyline. 'Destined With You' can be watched on JTBC at 22.30 every Wednesday-Thursday and Netflix which releases two episodes per week.
