Actor Byun Woo Seok recently revealed his struggles when starting his career in the entertainment world. He revealed this when he was a guest star on Hong Suk Chun's YouTube channel 'Hong Suk Chun's Jewelry Box' on Tuesday April 16, 2024.
"Ever since Woo Seok became a model, I noticed his actor-like face and encouraged him to pursue acting. I kept encouraging him to study acting, without knowing when the opportunity would arise," recalled Hong Suk Chun as quoted by Allkpop April 17, 2024.
Starting his career as a model in 2014, Byun Woo Seok recalls his difficult times as a newcomer actor. He was even rejected at auditions 100 times. "I faced rejection in auditions more than a hundred times. It felt like I failed almost every attempt, to the point where I wondered if I could endure repeated failures.
However, I persevered and put my best effort into each opportunity," said Byun Woo Seok. Byun Woo Seok made his acting debut through the drama 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo' which aired on SBS in 2016. At that time, he played the character of Hae Soo (IU)'s lover in the present.
Furthermore, in 2020, Byun Woo Seok was chosen as the main actor in the series 'Record of Youth' and starred opposite Park So Dam and Park Bo Gum, further increasing his popularity. In 2021, Byun Woo Seok was again appointed as the main actor in the drama 'Moonshine'.
Thanks to this role, he managed to win the Best New Actor award at the 2022 KBS Drama Awards.
