On June 14, 2024, Seoul Songpa Police Station confirmed that they had received a complaint through the National Petition System regarding potential violations of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. A police official stated, "We received a complaint through the National Petition System, but we have not received a formal complaint.
We have not named a suspect," and added that they would review whether to continue a formal investigation based on the details of the complaint. Earlier today, a BTS fan (called A) revealed in an online fan community that they had reported the people who tried to kiss Jin during a recent hugging event to the Seoul Songpa Police Station.
A stated, "I reported a violation of Article 11 of the Sexual Violence Law, 'harassment in a crowded place', through the National Petition System." Although most fans interact with Jin respectfully, some try to kiss him. Photos and videos capturing the moment show Jin looking confused and quickly looking away.
