In the second season, Sunja (Kim Min-ha) must do various things so that his family can survive amidst the destruction caused by World War II. Meanwhile, Solomon (Jin Ha), Jinha's grandson, tries to find financial influence in a society that continues to judge him because of his origins.

This happened after Sunja helped her mother run a boarding house during the Japanese occupation of Korea which was told in the first season of Pachinko. Sunja has a smooth life until she meets fish broker Koh Han-su (Lee Min-ho), a Korean civilian who works for the Japanese and has great power in the village where Sunja lives.

Although Sunja is married to Baek Isak (Noh Sang-hyun), her relationship with Koh Han-su results in them having children that lead them to unexpected things. Sunja then followed her husband to live in Osaka, Japan. However, she had to face some discrimination by the native Japanese.
