Celine Dion is rumored to have been paid US$2 million to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. As reported by TMZ and the New York Post on Tuesday July 23, 2024, the payment was given to Celine Dion for one song that she would sing on Friday July 26, 2024.

Celine Dion was previously seen in Paris after many photos and videos circulated showing the musician walking the streets of Paris since Tuesday. The photos made the public and media curious about what the diva wanted to do in the French capital.

According to French Radio, RTL, it said that Celine Dion had landed using a private jet at Le Bourget Airport located on the outskirts of Paris on Monday July 22, 2024 evening and had also spent Tuesday at the Dior fashion house office.

Celine Dion has been reported to have a strong connection to the Olympics several times. The My Heart Will Go On singer previously performed as the opening act for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with her song The Power of the Dream. The song was even composed and written specifically for the event.

In addition, Celine Dion also appeared in a campaign video entitled L'invincible courage which contained support for the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic contingents. Celine Dion's appearance will also be her first appearance after she was diagnosed with a rare disease called  stiff person syndrome, which forced her to cancel a number of scheduled appearances and concerts. 

On the other hand, the media also mentioned that there is another musician who will perform at the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics , namely Lady Gaga. The news emerged after the singer was seen in Paris on Tuesday July 23, 2024. Several uploads on social media also showed him standing next to a piano located on a floating stage on the Seine River, Paris. 

However, the other performers are still under wraps. So far, it has been confirmed that there are Celine Dion, Lady Gaga, and French singer Aya Nakamura. Several media outlets also rumored several other performers at the opening of the 2024 Paris Olympics, such as Dua Lipa and Ariana Grande.
