BIGHIT MUSIC provided an additional statement regarding BTS's Suga to apologize and clarify several things that seemed to have triggered misunderstandings. On August 8, 2024 at midnight KST, the agency stated, “First of all, we would like to once again deeply apologize for disappointing many people due to this unfortunate incident.”
"We would also like to apologize for issuing a hasty statement without being able to thoroughly check the situation and causing confusion."
1. Regarding the use of the term 'electric kickboard'
We judged that the product used by the artist was a kickboard with a saddle/seat, so we described it as an 'electric kickboard'. During additional investigation, we realized that the classification may vary depending on the performance and specifications of the product, and the scope of liability for the accident may also vary.
As some have said, we did not mean to downplay this issue. We once again apologize for not being able to examine it more closely and speaking hastily as a result. We will faithfully fulfill our responsibilities after the investigative authorities decide on the classification of the product in question.
2. Regarding the imposition of fines and revocation of driving license
On August 6, 2024, the artist was sent home immediately after undergoing a police breathalyzer test at the scene. Neither the company nor the artist were aware that there were still procedures to follow and mistakenly thought the matter was over. Given the seriousness of the issue, we apologize for conveying incorrect information due to an internal communication error.
First of all, both the artist and the company bow their heads in apology for not being able to set a good example during his military service and causing an unpleasant incident. We also sincerely apologize to the disappointed fans. We will cooperate faithfully with additional police investigations in the future and humbly accept the results of those investigations.
