Blumhouse plans to expand the M3GAN film universe by presenting a spin-off titled SOULM8TE. Adapting from Deadline on Saturday August 10, 2024, Lily Sullivan was appointed as the main character in this film. The story will focus on a man who buys an android to help him through difficult times after losing his wife.
Instead of being the expected replacement, the android turns into a serious threat to those around him. This spin-off is predicted to present a story that is bolder and different from the previous film. Lily Sullivan has garnered a lot of attention thanks to her acting as Beth Bixler in the horror film Evil Dead Rise.
Under the direction of director Lee Cronin, Sullivan managed to display a character that was so terrifying, it was no surprise that Blumhouse then chose her as the main character for the film SOULM8TE. Before delving into the horror genre in recent years, Sullivan had appeared in Sucker and Jungle.
Sullivan's performance in Evil Dead Rise, especially in terms of body language and expressions, managed to leave many viewers with a lingering impression. Now, the public is waiting to see how he will bring his new character in SOULM8TE to be unique and different from what was seen in the M3GAN film.
SOULM8TE will be directed by Kate Dolan. She previously directed the horror film You Are Not My Mother , which tells the story of a young woman's struggle to face her grandmother after her mother mysteriously disappears.
When the mother finally returns, she is no longer the same person as before she disappeared. Meanwhile, in the SOULM8TE project, Dolan will not only serve as director, but will also rewrite the script that was previously written by Rafael Jordan. There is no confirmation yet whether M3GAN will appear in SOULM8TE.
However, fans need not worry because the android characters played by Amie Donald and Jenna Davis will return in the sequel titled M3GAN 2.0. Viewers will see if M3GAN 2.0 adds to the chaos or introduces a new, more terrifying threat. Universal and Blumhouse have scheduled the film for release in theaters on June 27, 2025.
