Squid Game season 2 will soon air on the Netflix platform on December 26, 2024. In addition, it has been confirmed that season 3 will be released in 2025 as the conclusion of this series. To accompany this announcement, Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator, writer, director, and executive producer of the series, wrote a special letter to fans.

" It's been almost three years since season 1 received a great response worldwide and many unexpected events have occurred. I am very excited to write this letter to announce the broadcast date of season 2 and share news about season 3 which will be the last season ," said Hwang Dong-hyuk, quoted from the X account @squidgame on Thursday August 1, 2024.

In this season, the main character named Seong Gi-hun will return to the game. However, the challenges he faces this time seem to be much more difficult and deadly. " On the first day of filming Season 2, I remember thinking, 'Wow, I can't believe I'm back in the world of Squid Game.' It almost felt surreal.

I'm curious about how you felt about returning to Squid Game after three years. Seong Gi-hun, who was determined to get revenge at the end of Season 1, returns and joins the game again. Will he succeed in getting his revenge? The Front Man also doesn't seem like he'll be an easy opponent this time around ," he continued.

Hwang Dong-hyuk promises to provide a more interesting viewing experience in this final season and hopes that the audience will also be enthusiastic about waiting for the continuation of the story. " The fierce battle between the two worlds will continue until the end in season 3 which will air next year.

I am very excited to see how the initial idea of creating this new Squid Game grows and reaches its peak at the end of the story. We will try our best to provide another exciting experience for you. I hope you are excited to look forward to what is to come. Thank you for your support and see you again, " he concluded.

Squid Game first aired in 2021, presenting a deadly fictional competition that offered a cash prize of 45.6 billion won. Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is a father who is having a hard time and is trapped in this dangerous game.

He is not only struggling to survive, but is also being manipulated by a mysterious force that he cannot understand. One of the mysterious figures behind the scenes is Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) who helps organize the game. The story will continue with Squid Game season 2 which airs on December 26, 2024.
