Lady Gaga recently released her latest album, Harlequin. She called the album a complement to the soundtrack of Todd Phillips' psychological thriller musical film, Joker: Folie à Deux or Joker 2. On The Zane Lowe Show , Lady Gaga discussed her latest film and how her role as Harleen 'Lee' Quinzel (Harley Quinn) played a significant role in the creative process of her new album.

He revealed that the theme of dual identities has been part of the music he has created so far. Every time he makes music, fictional characters are always present in it. When she played Harleen 'Lee' Quinzel for the Joker sequel, the character had a huge impact and ultimately became the main inspiration for her latest album.

" I've created characters in my music a lot, and when I created Lee's character for Joker, he really had a profound impact on me. The movie has so much music, music that I love so much, and I was able to find this character through the story, the music that we play live every day, and the dancing, the costumes, and the makeup ," said Lady Gaga, quoted from the  Billboard page on Sunday September 29, 2024.

She added, " The experience was so intense that this character stuck with me creatively, and I eventually decided to make an album inspired by her ." Every time Lady Gaga plays or creates a character, there is always an element of her personality involved. So, the work she produces is not just about depicting the character, but also a means to express her feelings and life experiences.

Especially about how he grew up in the entertainment world since she was a teenager and faced various challenges as an artist. Through this process, she also tries to understand and convey his feelings more deeply. Meanwhile, the film Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. 

The story follows the life of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix) who is now a patient at Arkham State Hospital. At the hospital, he falls in love with a therapist named Harleen 'Lee' Quinzel (Lady Gaga). The two become entangled in a musical madness that arises from their shared delusions. Meanwhile, Arthur's followers begin to mobilize to free her.
