Paddington fans can rejoice as new projects from the series are in the works. A Paddington 4 film and a TV series have been confirmed by StudioCanal. Citing a report from ComicBook.com on Thursday September 26, 2024, StudioCanal Kids and Family Brands CEO Françoise Guyonnet, along with Global Head of Sales Sissel Henno, revealed big plans for the future of the Paddington franchise .

They revealed that Paddington 4 and a television series are in development, with release dates targeted for 2027 and 2028. The year 2028 will also be a special moment because it marks 70 years since Paddington's first appearance. Not only that, Paddington: The Musical has also been confirmed and will begin performing in London's West End in late 2025.

The Paddington Bear character himself was created by Michael Bond and first introduced in 1958. His story has long been enjoyed by the public through books, animated series, and successful feature films. The first Paddington film was released in 2014 with Ben Whishaw as the voice of the cute bear.

Whishaw reprised the role in Paddington 2 which was released in 2017. Since then, the popularity of the Paddington series has skyrocketed. They also launched an animated series called The Adventures of Paddington which airs on various platforms and has entered its third season.

Now, the audience will soon be treated to Paddington's latest adventure in the third film entitled Paddington in Peru. In this film, Paddington and his adoptive family, The Browns, will travel to Peru to meet Aunt Lucy. There are a few changes in the franchise , one of which is a change in directors.

Paul King, who directed the previous two films, is now directing the Wonka film, while Douglas Wilson takes over the director's chair for the third film. In addition, the character of Mary Brown, formerly played by Sally Hawkins, is now played by Emily Mortimer. Although many thought Paddington in Peru would close this trilogy, it seems that the Paddington franchise will continue.
