The film Smile 2 has released a new trailer, ready to show the story in a world filled with the mysterious curse of a deadly smile in October 2024. This curse slowly makes its victims lose their minds until they end up taking their own lives in front of others with a strange smile, as if they were transmitting the entity.
In Smile 2 , the story continues with Skye Riley ( Naomi Scott ), a pop star who must fight for her life after being trapped in the same curse. The latest trailer shows how Skye begins to lose her mind. Figures with creepy smiles continue to haunt her and various horrific events begin to occur around her.
However, a researcher studying the curse gives a cryptic hint that the only way to break the curse is by death. In the midst of this situation, Skye is seen in the hospital, preparing to inject something into herself, while other horrific scenes show people with horror smiles.
Smile 2 also offers some thrilling action moments. In one scene, a group of smiling fans are seen chasing Skye down a long hallway, followed by a car crash scene in the middle of the silent night. The clip ends with one of Skye's friends dead, but smiling and pulling his lips together in a creepy way.
In addition to Naomi Scott, the film also stars Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Peter Jacobson, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson. If in the first film the curse was interpreted as a symbol of trauma, the presence of the curse researcher character in this latest film shows a further exploration of the monster's mythology.
This may also be related to what happened to Joel in the previous film, considering Kyle Gallner is confirmed to reprise his role in the sequel. Smile 2 still carries the theme of trauma that is the hallmark of the first film, but this time with further development of the world mythology presented. This makes this sequel feel more interesting and worth waiting for.
