In recent months, Labubu has been in the spotlight in the world of collectible toys. Indonesian society has also been exposed to FOMO or Fear of Missing Out because of this phenomenon. Not a few are willing to spend millions of rupiah, either by way of jastip or queuing for hours in front of PopMart just for a key chain the size of a handful.

From children to adults, even artists are not left behind in following this trend. One pumpkin seems not enough for fans. Not a few buy a large box of  blind boxes to get the desired color, or find the secret version. The kw version is also selling well on the market, from the regular to the premium with prices that are still relatively expensive for the mendang mending community.

Actually, what is Labubu? This character created by illustrator Kasing Lung is a unique character with a cute appearance, has pointy ears and a mischievous smile. Although introduced since 2015, he began to be known after appearing in the form of interesting figures and accessories.

His popularity skyrocketed because of his existence in the form of collectible toys from Pop Mart, known as blind boxes where each box contains figures with different colors, adding to the appeal for collectors who like the element of surprise.

Labubu's fame skyrocketed after Lisa, a member of the K-pop girl group Blackpink, was seen wearing this Labubu accessory. In fact, through a story on her Instagram page, Lisa showed off 1 large box of Labubu blind boxes. As a result, Labubu's existence immediately attracted the attention of fans and toy collectors around the world.

Lisa Blackpink's post immediately made fans and collectors flock to buy Labubu figures. Inevitably, this phenomenon has made the demand for Labubu dolls increase drastically. Not only that, the price of Labubu which was originally only hundreds of thousands of rupiah can now be priced up to millions of rupiah.

Despite Labubu's popularity, there have been a number of controversies surrounding the character. Some collectors have reported issues with the quality of the products they received . Others feel the selling price is too high. In fact, some TikTok content creators have linked Labubu's virality as a demon doll related to occult practices.

Not a few say that Labubu is an illustration of the figure of Batarakala or Taotie which symbolizes greed, and associates it with the enthusiasm of fans who are not satisfied with just having one labubu, willing to queue for hours or pay a lot, even to the point of fighting just to be able to have the labubu they want.

What do you think? Are you one of those who also want to have Labubu? Is Labubu just a viral toy that will die down over time? Or do you believe that labubu is a symbol of the occult? The point is, stay wise in following the trend that is going viral. Don't just follow suit and push yourself too hard.

But from this phenomenon, we can learn that, the right promotion has the potential to captivate the hearts of many people. Evidently, Labubu has succeeded in captivating the hearts of many people and becoming part of the hot discussion on social media, making it one of the phenomena that has attracted the attention of many people this year.
