Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Seungkwan as one of the members of SEVENTEEN who comes from the Pledis Entertainment label under HYBE. He expressed his concerns about the industry he is currently in. “I don’t want to see people hurting each other.
Seeing everything that’s happening right now, I’ve been taking care of myself, thinking this might happen and working hard with the members like I always have. But seeing this situation and hoping the fire will stop is not an option,” Seungkwan wrote.
Seungkwan feels he wants to be a celebrity who does his job as a singer well. However, the current news makes the situation more difficult. “I know that those who work hard in the big K-pop industry are people who love their jobs very much.
But because of their sincerity, they also feel hurt and because they love so much, sometimes they feel empty,” he continued. “What I want to say is that we are not people who work easily and smoothly so that we can be judged. We experience pain, heartache and try to fight it, doing our best for our fans.
I hope people don't look down on idols,” Seungkwan emphasized. “You have no right to force our narrative. Not just us, but other artists, we are not goods. I hope you can not use and enjoy us as you wish,” he continued.
Seungkwan continued, K-pop idols are very friendly to each other by exchanging albums and making challenge videos together. He is very grateful for their friendship even though they don't know each other very well. “I also like the challenge culture.
Whether we are close or not, making challenge videos together, dancing to each other’s songs besides the stage, is a beautiful thing in our youth making small memories together. It’s even better if fans enjoy it. Even if we know each other, I like that we exchange words of support like “Hwaiting (cheer up) for promotions,” he said.
“I don’t want to see anyone get hurt and give up. I hope we stop hurting ourselves for things we can’t do. I don’t want to see my members, my hard-working colleagues, the staff who work for us, and our fans get hurt. To the fans who love us, I want to say I’m sorry and I love you,” Seungkwan concluded.
Seungkwan also included a letter that NMIXX's Haewon gave him when giving him the latest NMIXX album during promotions. In the letter, Haewon thanked Seungkwan for SEVENTEEN's music which really helped him in a difficult situation.
