Broadcasting station KBS has apologized after confirming that the production team for their upcoming drama ' The First Night With the Duke ' caused damage to the Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy, a UNESCO world heritage site, during filming.
Quoting from Allkpop on Thursday January 2, 2024, KBS officially expressed their apology regarding the incident. They also acknowledged the concerns voiced by the public, and promised to take swift action to resolve the situation.
"First of all, we would like to express our deepest apologies for the concerns raised by viewers over this incident. The production team had previously obtained permission to film at Byeonsanseowon Confucian Academy in Andong last year.
However, when they were about to set up the props, one of the visitors expressed concerns about the use of nails at the cultural heritage site," KBS explained. They added, "Whatever the reason, KBS acknowledges the seriousness of the mistake and deeply regrets what happened on set.
We are currently studying the details of the violation that occurred and are trying our best to correct it." KBS closed their official statement by once again apologizing to the public for the actions that caused concern to many people.
On the other hand, the production team is currently working with Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy to inspect the damage. And trying to make repairs. They also promised to be more careful in the future to prevent the same incident from happening again.
