tvN's new drama, 'The Tyrant's Chef', is undergoing a major change after actor Park Sung-hoon officially stepped down from his lead role. Now, rising rookie actor Lee Chae-min is rumored to be taking his place. 'The Tyrant's Chef' is a drama that tells the story of a French chef who travels back in time.

He meets a king who is known as a cruel tyrant, but also a food lover. Their journey builds a unique relationship, presenting a romantic fantasy story with an interesting historical touch. Park Sung-hoon was previously planned to star opposite Lim Yoon-ah, the female lead in the drama.

However, a controversy involving his social media posts forced him to withdraw from the project. In late December 2024, Park Sung-hoon uploaded a pornographic parody image inspired by the popular drama Squid Game on his personal account.

Although the post was quickly deleted, the incident drew sharp criticism from the public. Studio Dragon, the production house of 'The Tyrant's Chef', announced the decision on January 11 after a long discussion with Park Sung-hoon and his agency.

"The actor and the agency have apologized several times. After careful consideration, we have decided to continue our respective steps," explained a representative of Studio Dragon. Lee Chae-min's entry as the male lead brings a breath of fresh air to the drama's production.

Lee, who is known for dramas such as 'Crash Course in Romance' and the Netflix series 'Hierarchy', has received much attention from the younger generation thanks to his stunning looks. Lee Chae-min's agency, Golden Medalist, stated that the actor is positively considering the offer.

With Lee's experience in various drama genres, many fans are looking forward to his chemistry with Lim Yoon-ah. Director Jang Tae-yu, who previously successfully directed 'My Love from the Star' and 'Flower Blooming at Night', is again trusted to direct this project.

Lee Chae-min's presence is expected to bring new color to the complex character of the king, between his tyrannical side and his love of food. Although the script reading and filming schedule was delayed due to the change in actors, the production team is optimistic that 'The Tyrant's Chef' will remain one of the most anticipated dramas of the year.
