The SMTOWN LIVE 2025 concert has finished at Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul on January 11-12, 2025. For two nights, fans of SM Entertainment groups could see their favorite artists perform stunningly in one place.
The concert was even more special because it celebrated the company's 30th anniversary and featured many familiar faces in the lineup. However, SHINee fans were a little disappointed not to see all the members together. Only Key and Minho performed.
Now, Taemin has finally clarified why he did not perform at SMTOWN LIVE 2025. The idol was seen writing a message to his fans via the Bubble app. Taemin initially wrote, "Did you sleep well? The weather is cold, so wear warm clothes, keep your neck warm, and drink something warm because the cold air is spreading.
I'm writing this for the fans who may be worried about SHINee." Taemin then apologized for not being able to appear at SMTOWN LIVE 2025. "I apologize for not being able to participate in SHINee during the SMTOWN concert," he added. The idol also explained the reason for not appearing.
"I wanted to finish negotiations with the agency and join SHINee's activities quickly, but it seemed like it would take some time to sort everything out. However, we are continuing to make progress, and it seems like it will end soon," he added.
Taemin emphasized that he wants to continue protecting SHINee with the other members. "The other members and I want to protect SHINee and continue our story together. So, if you think I don't want to be SHINee or are worried that you won't be able to see SHINee anymore, don't worry," Taemin continued.
Furthermore, Taemin hopes that what he conveyed will not be a burden to others. "All members love SHINee and have the same heart. We are working carefully to prepare SHINee, so let's meet each other soon with smiling faces. Have a nice day and thank you always," concluded Taemin.
Taemin's statement was immediately flooded with netizen comments criticizing SM Entertainment. The reason is, the same incident also happened to SNSD's Tae Yeon and Red Velvet's Wendy who ultimately could not appear at SMTOWN LIVE 2025.
" It seems like Taemin also wants to join SHINee's activities[sic!] ," wrote one netizen. " The agency is the problem… Unfortunately, he went to that agency. Of course, I'm sure he didn't know the agency would be like that[sic!] ," added another.
