Lee Dong-wook recently had an interview with local media regarding his acting in "Harbin". One of the things discussed by the actor born in 1981 was his experience acting with Hyun Bin. Lee Dong Wook initially admitted his desire to act with Hyun Bin. "I've always wanted to work with Hyun Bin.
Watching his previous works, I was curious about what he's like on set, his attitude and approach to the project," he said. Lee Dong Wook revealed how serious Hyun Bin was on set. "Maybe because of the weight of his role, he was very serious all the time. He also showed strong leadership as the main character.
Even just seeing him quietly from the side was convincing," he added. Lee Dong Wook further said, "There is a scene where Hyun Bin and I sit and have a quiet chat. We created that scene improvised with the director. Without any prior discussion about how to approach it, we just started filming."
Lee Dong Wook then revealed a thrilling moment while acting with Hyun Bin. "As soon as the director said 'Action!' the exchange of glances and chemistry between us felt amazing. It was a thrilling feeling that I haven't experienced in a long time while acting," he added.
The actor added, "It made me realize that you can build natural chemistry without needing words. It was a scene that highlighted the unshakeable friendship and trust between Lee Chang Seop and Ahn Jung Geun, and it's one of my favorites."
Lee Dong Wook also talked about himself and Hyun Bin traveling together while filming in Latvia. "The town we live in in Latvia is quite small, so there's not much to do on our days off. All the actors often go out and explore together," he said.
"One time, Hyun Bin and I were walking around and we ran into the director. He was like, 'Oh, where are you two going?' When we told him we were going for a walk, he laughed and said, 'Really? Good, good, really good! You two should keep doing things together, okay?'
We burst out laughing at that," the actor concluded. On the other hand, “Harbin” is a historical film directed by Woo Min Ho. The film is set in 1909 and follows the thrilling chase between those heading to Harbin, China, and those chasing them.
In "Harbin," Hyun Bin plays Ahn Jung Geun, a Korean independence activist who assassinated Japan's first Prime Minister, Ito Hirobumi, that year. Lee Dong Wook plays Lee Chang Seop, a fictional Korean independence activist who works with Jung Geun on his mission.
