Leeteuk and Super Junior members took part in the SMTOWN LIVE 2025 concert held on January 11-12, 2025 at Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul. However, the stylist drew criticism because it had been worn by SuJu members before. Now, Leeteuk has responded to the criticism in his recent live broadcast.
The Super Junior leader said, "Some people said, 'Isn't this outfit reused from last year?'." Leeteuk emphasized that the stylists had tried their best. "Actually, the styling team did their best with a limited production budget. Making new costumes costs money, and sometimes we bear that cost," he said.
"So, we reused some of the clothes we've worn before. Please don't be too critical," he continued. The 1983-born idol emphasized that making a new back costume costs a lot of money. "Costume production isn't cheap. It costs hundreds of thousands of won to make customized clothes.
Stylists measure our sizes, choose materials, and design costumes from scratch. It's a lot of work," Leeteuk added. Leeteuk then expressed his concerns about the stylists, stating, "I'm bringing this up because misunderstandings can arise.
The stylists work hard, but fans might think, 'Why are they reusing costumes? Are they really doing their jobs?'." That's what made Leeteuk finally speak up to defend Super Junior's stylist. "The stylist couldn't explain the situation openly, so I felt the need to step in. If I didn't, they would be unfairly blamed," he said.
Leeteuk emphasized that the Super Junior members have thought carefully about reusing costumes. "If we wear the same clothes over and over again, it won't feel right," the idol said. "But we make sure to rotate or reuse the costumes carefully. Fans should know there is a reason behind this decision.
Costumes can be reused for other events or performances to avoid waste," Leeteuk added. Leeteuk's honest explanation made fans realize that the stylists actually worked hard. However, the high cost of making costumes with limited costumes was a challenge for them.
