BLACKPINK Jisoo's Acting Criticized, Asked to Focus on Music Again

BLACKPINK singer and actress Jisoo's acting has been in the spotlight after a clip from the Newtopia series aired. Jisoo received a lot of criticism for her acting in the series. Some netizens on online forums thought that Jisoo's acting was less than satisfactory. Many mentioned the unclear pronunciation of words.

 

"The vocal projection and pronunciation are very bad," wrote a netizen. "And she has absolutely no natural talent for acting," another commented. "Jisoo's acting has united all community sites. Even in male-dominated forums, where Jisoo has a good image and is popular, the reactions are very negative. 

That's it. Acting is really not for her," said another. Because of this, Jisoo was asked to stop acting and return to focusing on music as a solo singer and with her group, BLACKPINK. Netizens also regretted Jisoo's decision to immediately take the lead role at the beginning of her acting career. 

They also compared Jisoo to other idols who have entered the acting world such as Hyeri, Cha Eun Woo to Seolhyun. Initially, many people were disappointed with Hyeri's acting performance to Cha Eun Woo. However, at the beginning of her career as an actress, Hyeri and Seolhyun started with smaller roles. 

While Cha Eun Woo showed better acting progress over time. Meanwhile, Yoon Sung Hyun, as the director of Newtopia, apparently had doubts about the acting ability of the Flower singer considering that Jisoo had been on hiatus from acting for quite some time. 

"At first, I was worried because she (BLACKPINK's Jisoo) hasn't been active (in the acting world) for a long time since Snowdrop. She's also not an actor who acts consistently," said Yoon Sung Hyun at a press conference, quoted from News18. 

However, Jisoo was able to show her seriousness in the drama Newtopia. The director's concerns eventually disappeared as time went by. "She (Jisoo) gave me four days a week. So that worry disappeared. When filming started, I felt like she was really ready. It was a really hard filming, but she did really well," he said.
