Actress and singer Hyeri recently revealed that she personally purchased all of the luxury clothes, bags, and accessories used in her drama, ' Friendly Rivalry '. She took this decision to ensure that his role as a character from the 'top 1%' looked truly authentic on screen.
On February 7, 2025, Hyeri uploaded a video titled "I Have to Watch This Drama Because of the Kiss Scene – Behind-the-Scenes of 'Friendly Rivalry'" on her personal YouTube channel. In the video, actress Kang Hye-won also appeared as a guest and shared their experiences while filming the drama.
Hyeri said that the character she plays, Yoo Jae-yi, is one of the best students at Chaehwa Girls' High School, both in terms of academics, family background, and appearance. To support her role, she decided to buy the luxurious clothes and accessories worn in the drama herself.
"I bought all the clothes and accessories worn in the drama because there were no sponsors," Hyeri said, as quoted by Allkpop. "All the designer bags and clothes you see on screen are my own purchases." Usually, actors and actresses in dramas get sponsorship from luxury brands for the clothes they wear.
However, because dramas often air long after production has finished, many brands are reluctant to sponsor them because their products may no longer be relevant in the market by the time the drama airs. Hyeri also emphasized that she really bought all these items with her own money, as quoted from Sports Chosun.
In addition, Hyeri and Kang Hye-won also shared funny stories during filming. Kang Hye-won revealed that Hyeri often asked her opinion on her appearance, such as "How do I look today?" or "Do I look pretty?"
