Undercover High School is Seo Kang Joon's comeback Korean drama after his military service. In the MBC drama, he was cast as the main character. Ahead of its premiere, the 31-year-old actor revealed his role.
Jung Hae Sung is a character who remains calm and quiet at all times, yet is very thorough and strategic, like a great NIS agent. Ahead of the drama's premiere, Seo Kang Joon discussed why he chose the project, saying, "I found it interesting because it combines various genres, such as comedy, action, human drama, and crime.
I think it's a good project because behind the light comedy, there is a unique message in the story," as quoted by Soompi on Tuesday February 11, 2025. Regarding the effort he put into portraying his character, he shared, “In order to effectively portray the action scenes as an NIS agent, I trained at an action school.
Also, I wanted to focus more on the character of Hae Sung, so I spent a lot of time contemplating what kind of person he is.” He continued, “Jung Hae Sung tends to deal with his pain on his own rather than showing it to others. Even though he appears to live by the rules, he is actually a free spirit.”
“Hae Sung has always been alone and is used to being alone, but as he meets fellow students at school, he gradually learns what it means to feel ‘togetherness’ with others,” said Seo Kang Joon. In his final speech, the actor said, “After being discharged from the military, I’m returning with a new project for the first time in a while. I’m more excited than nervous.
‘Undercover High School’ is something that can be enjoyed in a lighthearted way, but within all that fun, there’s also depth and emotional impact. Please look forward to it.” Meanwhile, Undercover High School will premiere on February 21, 2025 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
