Son Ye Jin has reportedly received an offer to star in a new Korean drama titled Variety. Interestingly, Hyun Bin's wife is being eyed to play a character similar to NewJeans' 'mother', namely former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.
According to a report by Korean media MK on Tuesday February 11, 2025, if Son Ye Jin accepts the offer to star in Variety, then this will be her comeback drama after three years of not acting in a drama. Her last drama was Thirty Nine which ended in 2022. The actress' representative said that Son Ye Jin is considering an offer to star in Variety.
The drama is known to bring up the story of the K-Pop entertainment industry which is full of intrigue. "It's true that she did receive the offer (for the Korean drama Variety), but is still reviewing the script," said Son Ye Jin's representative, as reported by Wolipop, on Thursday February 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, a representative from the production house CJ ENM also said that it is true that they are targeting Son Ye Jin to be the main character in the drama Variety. The drama project is said to still be in the discussion stage and there is no broadcast schedule or cast list yet.
"We offered the role to Son Ye Jin, but since the project is still in its early stages, nothing has been finalized. Details such as the broadcast schedule and other casting decisions have not been determined," said a CJ ENM representative.
The Variety drama itself is said to have a thriller genre and will take the K-Pop entertainment industry as its setting and tell the story of the idols' lives in it. Director Kim Yong Hoon who worked on Mask Girl is known to be involved as the conceptor of this drama.
The Variety drama production team is still in the casting process to find K-Pop idols and former K-Pop idols who will be the players. Jo Yu Ri's name was also mentioned in the discussion process because of her amazing role in Squid Game 2.
