Former NCT member Taeil has been named a suspect in a sexual crimes case and is now scheduled to go on trial for the matter. However, the former idol seems to not care too much about the case that ensnared him. Because, he was recently allegedly caught drunk with his friends.

A netizen claimed to have seen Taeil drinking alcohol with his friends. The netizen then also uploaded a photo of someone who is believed to be Taeil at a drinking place. Although blurry, Taeil looks like he is smiling.

"I saw Moon Taeil earlier, he seemed drunk even though his first trial was just around the corner," wrote the netizen, quoted on Monday April 21, 2025. The netizen then claimed that one of Taeil's friends at the time asked him not to take the photo on the grounds that the former idol was currently in a 'difficult situation'.

"My friend took this photo because they accidentally met him (Taeil) while eating, and the person next to him ridiculously said that he was going through a hard time, and asked them not to take the photo," the netizen explained.

The post quickly went viral and was viewed over a million times, drawing mixed reactions from other netizens. Most netizens sharply criticized Taeil's behavior, which was considered inappropriate and insensitive ahead of his trial.

Meanwhile, several other netizens said that Taeil still has the right to live his life normally until the legal verdict on the case against him is decided. Taeil debuted as part of NCT in 2016, and has been active as an idol in the sub-units NCT 127 and NCT U.

However, Taeil was reported to the police by the victim on June 13, 2024 on suspicion of sexual crimes. The police then conducted an investigation and first summoned Taeil on August 28, 2024, which immediately shocked fans. The case was then forwarded to the prosecutor's office without any detention.

Taeil and the two reported suspects were ordered to be detained. However, this request was rejected by the court on the grounds that the three suspects had confessed to their crimes. According to local media reports, the Seoul Central District Court will hold the first trial for Taeil and two other suspects on May 12, 2025.
