Nam Yoon Su has been embroiled in controversy after posting an indecent photo on his personal Instagram account. The South Korean actor uploaded a provocative cartoon of a woman's lower body with a balloon illustration. Although he quickly deleted it, the post had already spread on social media.
Aware of the controversy, Nam Yoon Su quickly provided clarification. The actor discussed the possibility of his account being hacked. "I just saw this repost while driving. Was I hacked?" said the actor. "I found out because fans told me about it," he added.
Nam Yoon Su also uploaded a photo of her algorithm on Instagram to prove that it was a mistake. "This is all there is to my algorithm. I have to check if my account was hacked. I didn't even know the repost button was pressed. Could this be malware?" Yoon Su continued.
However, Nam Yoon Su's clarification actually sparked new questions from netizens about what he watched that caused such a vulgar algorithm to appear. " What does he usually watch that it appears? [sic!] ," wrote one netizen. " Apart from it being a mistake, I'm surprised something like that would show up in the algorithm [sic!]," added another.
" Male celebrities are like that....even if it's a mistake.. there's no going back if you follow female BJs[sic!] ," said another. Realizing that the situation was not calming down, Yoon Su's agency also spoke up to provide an explanation.
The agency revealed that the actor seemed to have accidentally posted the photo. "This happened while his phone was in his pocket. If he had pressed it while looking at it, he would have apologized, but it seems like he accidentally pressed it while his phone was in his pocket," the agency said.
"Nam Yoon Su and the company found out through fan reports, and the post was deleted shortly after it was reposted. If he accidentally reposted it, wouldn't he have deleted it right away?" the agency continued. On the other hand, the post has now been deleted, and Nam Yoon Su’s Instagram account appears to be safe.
He has not issued an official statement other than a message on his fan platform, but his quick deletion and transparency with fans has helped ease tensions. Meanwhile, Nam Yoon Su rose to fame thanks to his roles in “Extracurricular” and “The King’s Affection” among others.
The actor recently received praise for his portrayal of Go Young in the 2023 TVING drama “Love in the Big City,” a story that explores same-sex romance. He is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film “Killing Time,” which is set to premiere later this year.
