South Korean actor Shin Seung Ho has been officially exempted from his mandatory military service after suffering a serious knee injury in 2021. The news was confirmed by his agency, KINGKONG by STARSHIP, on June 18, 2025.
In an official statement, the agency revealed that Shin had torn his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a personal activity, which led to surgery. After undergoing a medical examination, he was declared unfit for military service and was officially discharged at the end of the year.
"Shin Seung-ho suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury while carrying out personal activities in 2021. He then underwent surgery and was eventually exempted from military service based on medical reasons, " wrote the agency representative, quoted from Soompi on Friday June 20, 2025.
Before becoming an actor, Shin was known as a soccer athlete. He pursued the sport for 11 years before finally deciding to retire and try his luck in the entertainment world. His debut began at the SBS Supermodel Contest in 2016, which led him to the modeling world.
With a height of 186 cm and a charismatic appearance, he immediately stole attention. Shin's acting career began in 2018 through the popular web drama 'A-Teen,' which became the starting point of his popularity.
His name skyrocketed after appearing in a number of popular dramas such as 'DP' (Deserter Pursuit), 'Alchemy of Souls,' 'Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow,' 'Weak Hero Class 1,' and 'At Eighteen,' as well as the film 'Pilot.'
