ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo officially began his mandatory military service on Monday (July 28, 2025). He entered the Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, South Korea, at around 1:45 p.m. local time.

Cha Eun Woo's agency, Fantagio, previously announced that his enlistment process would be conducted in a low-key manner without any formal events. As planned, Cha Eun Woo arrived at the location in a black car and headed straight to the enlistment checkpoint without making any public appearances.

After undergoing approximately five weeks of basic military training, Cha Eun Woo will serve in the Army's marching band unit. He reportedly passed the interview for the position last May 2025. Currently, several artists, including singer Yoo Seung-woo, Kim Woo-seok, and NCT's Jaehyun, are also serving in the same unit.

iKON's Kim Donghyuk also enlisted at the same time as Cha Eun Woo today, making the two of them fellow soldiers. The day before his military enlistment, Cha Eun Woo held a live YouTube broadcast to greet fans. In the broadcast, he showed off his new short haircut.

He jokingly said, "It's hard to believe this day has come. This is probably the shortest my hair has been since I was 2 or 3 years old." He also sent a message to fans, "I will return healthy. I wish you continued success in everything you do."

These words garnered a warm response from fans who expressed their full support. Support also came from fellow artists and agencies. Actor Lee Sang Yeop wrote on his social media, "Come back healthy, Eunwoo!" Meanwhile, the members of ASTRO and Choi Yoo Jung were also present to see Cha Eun Woo off.
