Netflix held a press conference for their latest Korean film 'Love Untangled' on August 25, 2025. The event was attended by director Namkoong Sun and the main cast, namely Gong Myung, Shin Eun Soo, Cha Woo Min, and Yoon Sang Hyun.
'Love Untangled' is a teen romance film set in 1998. The story follows Park Seri, a 19-year-old girl who struggles to overcome the complexities of her curly hair in preparation for the biggest confession of her life. However, her plans go awry when she meets Han Yoonsuk, a transfer student played by Gong Myung.
At a press conference, Gong Myung, who plays Han Yoonsuk, shared his impressions of the project. Despite being 31 years old, the actor successfully portrayed the character of a high school student with charm. "When I first read the script, I thought the story was very fresh, funny, and full of love.
It's a genre I've always wanted to see as a viewer, so I was very excited to join," said Gong Myung. He also described Han Yoonsuk's character as a transfer student from Seoul to Busan who is a year older than his classmates.
"Yoonsuk has a sensitive and emotional side, but he also has a story that others don't know," he added. Regarding his role as a 30-something high school student in a school uniform, Gong Myung was taken aback by the public's attention.
"I was also shocked when I saw myself," he said with a laugh. "But I'm confident that after this film airs, audiences won't see him that way. I tried to portray Han Yoon-suk's youthful energy with a fresh air," he explained.
He also added, "It's true that playing a high school student in his 30s can seem odd, but I've tried hard through my grooming and acting to make it look that way. I hope the audience can open their hearts and enjoy this performance positively.
But, honestly, after seeing people's reactions, I think this really is the last time I'll wear a school uniform," he joked, drawing laughter from the audience. Meanwhile, director Namkoong Sun was unwavering in his praise for Gong Myung. "He has a bright and positive image, but also has an appealingly indifferent side.
I felt he was perfect for the role of Yoonsuk, who sometimes appears tired and a bit grumpy, but is actually a gentle person." "He's like a big, adorable gummy bear, but with a touch of aloofness," Namkoong said with a smile.
Gong Myung added confidently, "I want to show a fresh, sweet, and youthful side through this role." 'Love Untangled' will premiere on Netflix on August 29, 2025. The film is expected to be a refreshing and nostalgic treat for fans of teen romance dramas.
