South Korean actor Yoo Ah In denied reports that he would return to acting through director Jang Jae Hyun's latest film entitled 'Vampire'. On December 17, 2025, UAA's agency stated to Xports News, "There has been no decision yet that Yoo Ah In will star in the film 'Vampire'."
Earlier on the same day, several media outlets reported that Yoo Ah In was scheduled to return to the big screen through the film 'Vampire' which is planned to begin filming in 2026. The film is known to have a vampire theme with a Russian Orthodox Church background, while combining an original Korean-style story.
Director Jang Jae Hyun is known as a pioneer of the Korean occult genre through works such as 'The Priests' (2015), 'Svaha: The Sixth Finger' (2019), and 'Exhuma' (2024). His latest film is expected to expand the occult universe he has created, thus garnering widespread public attention.
Yoo Ah In himself has been on hiatus from all entertainment activities since early 2023 due to a drug abuse scandal. He was indicted on charges of abusing narcotics 181 times, including propofol, midazolam, ketamine, and remimazolam, under the pretext of sleep anesthesia for cosmetic procedures.
At the first instance court, he was sentenced to one year in prison and immediately detained in the courtroom. However, on appeal, his sentence was reduced to one year in prison with two years of probation. Last July, the South Korean Supreme Court upheld the verdict, freeing Yoo Ah In from his original prison sentence.
