Cha Joo Young is temporarily stepping back from public appearances due to health concerns, her agency confirmed. On January 25, 2026, Ghost Studio released an official statement announcing, “Cha Joo Young will be unable to participate in upcoming official schedules for the time being due to health-related reasons.”

According to the statement, Cha Joo Young has been receiving medical examinations and treatment after experiencing recurring nosebleeds over an extended period. “Based on medical advice, she underwent an ENT surgery that could no longer be postponed,” the agency explained.

“She is currently in the recovery phase following the procedure and requires time for observation, making it difficult for her to take part in official schedules, including promotional activities, during this period.” The agency added, “We sincerely apologize for causing concern to related parties and fans due to unavoidable changes.

We will do everything we can to support her full recovery, and she will return to greet audiences again once she is in good health.” Cha Joo Young is set to star in the upcoming film Sister, which opens January 28, 2026.

In the movie, she plays So Jin, a woman taken hostage who fights desperately to escape after being kidnapped by her younger sister Haeran, played by Jung Ji So, in a plot driven by a massive ransom demand. The actress rose to global recognition in 2023 through her role as Choi Hye Jeong in Netflix’s hit series The Glory.
