BAE173's Hangyul has terminated his exclusive contract with the agency PocketDol Studio. Their contract ended a decade after Hangyul joined. “Our exclusive contract with Hangyul will end on February 28, 2026.

It has been a wonderful journey as we have spent 10 years together and witnessed each other’s growth,” PocketDol Studio said in a statement on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. "We thank Hangyul for his dedication and his best efforts.

Although our exclusive contract has expired, we will fully support Hangyul's future activities," agency said. PocketDol Studio CEO Kim Kwang Soo also made a statement saying, “Hangyul is a friend who stands by our side, whether the company is doing well or not, whether good or bad things happen.”

"I've watched many artists over the past 41 years, but it's not easy to find someone like Hangyul who shows such sincerity. He's a good friend, so I'll support him as he embarks on this new journey," agency said.

Hangyul joined the agency PocketDol as a trainee and debuted with the group IM in 2017. Later, he participated in the competition show The Unit. His popularity began to rise when he joined Produce X 101 and became the final member to join the project group X1.

Less than a year after his debut, the show was mired in controversy, leading to X1's disbandment before its contract expired. Hangyul then promoted as a unit H&D with Nam Dohyon until he debuted as a member of BAE173 in November 2020.
