Entering its third week in South Korean cinemas, the film Colony has reached 5 million viewers. This latest data was confirmed by the Korean Film Council on Monday (June 15, 2026).
As of Sunday (June 14, 2026), the film directed by director Yeon Sang Ho had been watched by 5,212,824 viewers. Throughout last weekend, the film was also a favorite for South Korean audiences to watch on the big screen.
A total of 301,053 moviegoers purchased tickets for Colony from Friday to Sunday last weekend. According to data compiled by www.koreanfilm.or.kr, Colony is currently showing on 1,322 screens across Korea.
Colony has grossed $36.3 million so far, more than triple its reported production cost of just $12 million. Colony also became the second-fastest South Korean film to reach 5 million viewers.
The King's Warden remains in first place, which earlier this year became the second-highest-grossing South Korean film of all time. Colony premiered at the 79th Cannes Film Festival on May 15, 2026.
This marks director Yeon Sang Ho's return to Cannes 10 years after the premiere of Train to Busan. Colony was screened at the Midnight Screenings in Cannes 2026.
Midnight Screenings specifically curates genre-fluid action, thriller, and horror films, taking place at the Lumière Grand Theatre. As soon as the film ended and the closing credits began to roll, the atmosphere in the cinema erupted.
Applause and cheers echoed throughout the room, lasting for a full seven minutes. Yeon Sang Ho returns with a zombie story in Colony. But this time, the zombies are different and more intelligent. Colony is still showing in cinema networks.
