South Korean actress Mun Ka Young has officially changed agencies. She's joined Fantagio Management, joining Cha Eun Woo and Kim Seon Ho! Mun Ka Young has a history with the two actors signed under Fantagio.
She appeared alongside Cha Eun Woo in the popular Korean drama "True Beauty" (2020). She also starred alongside Kim Seon Ho in "Welcome to Waikiki 2." Fantagio officially announced Mun Ka Young's joining the agency on Friday (July 3, 2026).
In an official statement, they confirmed their readiness to support the career of the actress, born on July 10, 1996. "We are very excited to have signed with Mun Ka Young, who has unlimited potential.
We plan to provide our full support as a reliable partner so that her talent and charm can shine even brighter in various fields," said Fantagio CEO Namkoong Kyun. Mun Ka Young was previously under Peak J Entertainment, having previously bounced around several times.
She now has a new project ready to film: the tvN drama "Mermaid." The working title for this drama is Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's story, The Little Mermaid, the Korean drama will be set in 1926.
In Seoul, then still called Gyeongseong, lived a man named Kang Ui Hyeon (Choi Woo Shik). He was described as a man deeply dedicated to his country and fighting for its independence. But her struggle wasn't easy. Moreover, her father was pro-Japanese, even though Korea was still under colonial rule.
Luckily, she had Song Hae Su (Heo Nam Jun), a freedom fighter who was also willing to sacrifice anything for the good of the people. There is also a woman named Heo Su A (Mun Ka Young), a mysterious woman who saved Kang Ui Hyeon from an incident in the middle of the sea.
Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid is planned to be co-directed by Heo Jin Ho (Christmas in August, One Fine Spring Day) and Yoo Bum Sang (Twinkling Watermelon, Study Group).
Besides Choi Woo Shik, Heo Nam Jun, and Moon Ka Young, this drama will also star Yoo Jae Myung, Kang Han Na, Kim Yeo Jin, and Gong Seung Yeon. Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid will air on tvN in 2027.
