South Korean actor Nam Joo Hyuk is confirmed to return to the small screen through the latest Disney+ drama entitled "Code", a mystery and crime genre series that also stars Lee Yi Dam, Kim Eui Sung, and Park Hoon.
As reported by Soompi, the drama "Code" will be directed by Yoo Soo Min, the man behind the successful series "Weak Hero." The story follows an ambitious lawyer who is willing to do anything to achieve success.
His life changes after receiving an invitation to use a mysterious app called "Code," an app that claims to grant its users' wishes, but with consequences. Nam Joo Hyuk will play Yoon Tae Joo, a former prosecutor's investigator who transitioned to a lawyer.
He aims for a partner position at a prestigious law firm but ends up trapped in a spiral of greed after discovering the "Code" app. This character is said to showcase a new side of Nam Joo Hyuk's acting skills.
Meanwhile, Lee Yi Dam is trusted to play prosecutor Park Ji Dam, who tries to uncover the mystery behind the application. The past relationship between Park Ji Dam and Yoon Tae Joo becomes one of the main conflicts in the story.
Meanwhile, Kim Eui Sung plays hacker and North Korean defector named Jo Cheol Ho, while Park Hoon plays violent crimes detective Im Chang Jae, Yoon Tae Joo's old friend who helps investigate the case.
The project was previously introduced with the working title "Code: Faust Game" while Nam Joo Hyuk was still in talks to join. After production got underway, Disney+ confirmed the main cast and set the official title to "Code."
For Nam Joo Hyuk, this drama is a major project after appearing in the fantasy series "The East Palace." In addition to "Code," the actor has also been confirmed to star in the upcoming romance drama "Heartbeat," written by Lee Si Eun, the writer of the popular drama " Lovely Runner ."
Based on the premise of desire coming at a high price, "Code" will explore the dark side of human ambition and greed. The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2027.
