South Korean actor Nam Joo Hyuk is confirmed to star in the latest Disney+ original series titled Code, a crime thriller drama scheduled to air in 2027. This news was announced directly by the Disney+ streaming platform on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
In the series, Nam Joo Hyuk will play Yoon Tae Joo, a former prosecutor's investigator who now works as a lawyer. He was struggling to reach a partner position at a prestigious law firm, until his life changed after discovering a mysterious app called Code.
The application has the ability to grant every wish of its users. However, behind that power there is a price to pay, bringing Yoon Tae Joo into a series of mysteries and dangerous cases. The Code drama will be present in 12 episodes and carries the crime thriller genre with a touch of mystery and psychological tension.
The story follows the journey of the main character who must uncover the secret behind the application, while facing the consequences of every choice made. The series is an adaptation of the Taiwanese drama Code, which aired for two seasons in 2016 and 2019.
Its popularity even spawned a Japanese remake in 2023 starring actor Kentaro Sakaguchi. The project is further enhanced by the fact that it's directed by Yoo Su Min, the man behind the successful school action series Weak Hero's first and second seasons.
Yoo's renowned, intense and suspenseful directing style is expected to bring a fresh twist to the Korean adaptation of Code. Nam Joo Hyuk's return to the small screen through this Disney+ project has become one of the most anticipated Korean dramas next year.
His role as a lawyer caught in a dangerous game is predicted to showcase a more mature and emotional side of his acting compared to his previous projects. While Disney+ hasn't revealed the exact broadcast schedule or cast yet, Code will be one of its flagship Korean original series released in 2027.
With its unique premise, adaptation of a popular series, and collaboration between Nam Joo Hyuk and director Yoo Su Min, this drama is expected to attract the attention of thriller fans worldwide.
