Earlier this month, Lee Jong Suk's management announced the cancellation of his appearance in the upcoming Korean drama, Iseop's Romance. Now, actress Choi Yoon Ji is following in his footsteps. Choi Yoon Ji was initially confirmed as the female lead in Iseop's Romance.
However, on Friday (September 11, 2026), an industry source confirmed that the 1997-born actress would not appear. According to the source, the filming schedule for Iseop's Romance conflicted with Choi Yoon Ji's other schedule.
After discussions with the production team, apparently no optimal solution was found. "The drama's production schedule clashed with his other activities. After considerable discussion, he decided to cancel his appearance," the source said, as reported by News1.
Choi Yoon Ji was originally slated to play Kang Min Gyeong in Iseop's Romance. Now, the production team has to recast another actress, as well as an actor for the role of Tae I Seop, previously played by Lee Jong Suk. Iseop's Romance is adapted from a web novel of the same name.
It tells the story of a third-generation heir to a conglomerate throne who struggles to find love. Kang Min Gyeong's character is written as the "secret weapon" of a company called TK Group. She is a perfect employee with extraordinary talents, making her the company's mainstay.
The plan is for this drama to air in 2027. Iseop's Romance is packaged as a drama in the same universe as another Korean drama project, A Casual Lie. The two dramas are planned to be produced concurrently this year due to their overlapping stories. A Casual Lie will be played by actor Lee Jun Hyuk.
