BLACKPINK's Jennie has again drawn criticism after a staff spoke out about her vaping. After being caught on camera smoking an e-cigarette indoors, the BLACKPINK member has drawn harsh criticism from Korean netizens.

Previously on Monday July 8, 2024, a viral video clip showed BLACKPINK's Jennie smoking a vape while her hair and face were being made up. The video clip was shared by Twitter account owner @nona15648321 from a clip of BLACKPINK's Jennie vlog in Capri, Italy recently.

"Jennie smoking Vape 💨 in her vlog," wrote the Twitter account owner @nona15648321 as the caption. She highlighted that BLACKPINK's Jennie was exhaling smoke and holding a vape in her right hand. In the video, BLACKPINK's Jennie waits for the makeup artist to finish applying lipstick to her lips before taking a vape.

The upload by the Twitter account owner @nona15648321 was immediately flooded with comments from netizens and fans of BLACKPINK's Jennie. Not a few sided with Jennie and considered the CEO of ODD ATELIER to be an adult and free to do so. A number of male Kpop idols were previously caught smoking and vaping.

While others mocked Jennie and alluded to her vocal abilities. Following the controversy that rocked the internet, BLACKPINK's Jennie released an official statement through OA Entertainment. BLACKPINK's Jennie admitted her mistake of smoking an e-cigarette indoors and causing discomfort to netizens and staff at the scene.

The 28-year-old singer also asked fans who felt disappointed. "Jennie acknowledges and regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff. Jennie has personally apologized to all staff at the location who may have been affected," said BLACKPINK's Jennie agency, as reported by the ODD ATELIER Twitter account @oddatelier.

One of BLACKPINK's Jennie staff who was at the scene also spoke up to clear up the misunderstanding. He also did not blame Jennie for vaping because she is a smoker. "While the staff was looking for lip products, Jennie picked up a bubble pen that was being sold at a supermarket.

She kept apologizing even after the event was over, and the staff involved also said that there was no problem because she is also a smoker. Although this is a controversy about smoke hitting the top of the staff's head, I don't think it's right to link her past actions to the controversy about her attitude.

As her friend in real life, I left a comment because I felt upset that she was misunderstood," a staff member told Sports Chosun. Although BLACKPINK Jennie's staff has clarified the vape controversy, Korean netizens have accused Jennie of bad behavior. The person who spoke up is allegedly not a staff member but her friend.

"Hahaha so annoying. How could she not hold it in while they were doing her makeup," commented a netizen on a Korean community forum. "So who's inhaling the smoke if she's vaping while her face is being made up," wrote one Korean netizen. "They all put on makeup, but she did something like that. It's definitely not normal," another Korean netizen chimed in, criticizing BLACKPINK's Jennie.
