On August 16, 2024, Jang Keun Suk, who is also nicknamed the ‘Prince of Asia’, opened up about his recent battle with thyroid cancer and ongoing recovery. Known for his roles in popular dramas such as You're Beautiful and Love Rain, Jang Keun Suk's revelation surprised both his fans and admirers.

Jang Keun Suk's agency , Craft42 ENT, shared with K-media outlet Ilgan Sports that the actor was diagnosed with thyroid cancer around October of last year. After undergoing the initial stages of his diagnosis, he underwent successful surgery in May 2024.

“The surgery was successful, and his health has recovered,” the agency reported. They emphasized that Jang is now focusing on his health, undergoing regular checkups, and trying to maintain his health. Next, in a heartfelt YouTube video titled “Hello, this is Jang Keun Suk. 

He explained that he had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent surgery two weeks before the video was released. “I was afraid that a lot of people would worry, so I couldn’t tell you,” she admitted. Despite the challenges, he expressed relief and gratitude, saying that the surgery went well and he is optimistic about her recovery. 

“I am happy to be able to talk about it now. And now that my health is back, I will travel,” he shared with a hopeful tone. Meanwhile, Jang Keun Suk's journey from child model to famous actor has been marked by triumphs and tribulations. 

Starting his career as a child model and making his acting debut in the 1997 sitcom Selling Happiness, Jang Keun Suk quickly rose to fame with roles in dramas such as Beethoven Virus and You're Beautiful.
