American actress, Jenna Ortega quickly stole the world's attention after starring in Netflix's Wednesday. In the series , Ortega played a dominant yet reserved character and her performance managed to captivate millions of viewers.

While the character may seem different from most, many people were impressed with the way Ortega brought the character to life, and are now looking forward to the second season, which is expected to air on Netflix early next year.

In her latest interview with Vanity Fair, the 2002-born actress said Wednesday's appeal comes from the character's ability to display traits that many people desire. " The intelligence, the wit, and the confidence that Wednesday has, I think a lot of us wish we could have ," Jenna Ortega said, quoted on Friday August 9, 2024.

" Wednesday's specialty lies in her ability to inspire because she doesn't care what other people say ," she added. Jenna Ortega recalls first auditioning for Wednesday over Zoom, just weeks after wrapping filming Ti West’s horror film X. She was initially hesitant about taking the role.

However, a candid and assertive conversation with Tim Burton made her want the role of Wednesday even more. The call was a pivotal moment that changed her perspective and convinced her to pursue the role. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star also gave a hint that in Wednesday season 2, the story will leave behind the love triangle drama that was in the first season.

Instead, the series will take viewers in a more horror direction. Ortega describes a more sinister atmosphere, taking inspiration from the classic film The Masque of the Red Death (1964). Steve Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Billie Piper, and Christopher Lloyd have all been confirmed to join the series.

Christopher Lloyd of the Addams Family franchise follows in the footsteps of Christina Ricci by joining as one of the stars. Additionally, the characters Gomez and Morticia Addams, played by Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones, will now be regular characters in the series, no longer just appearing as cameos like in the first season.
