BLACKPINK's Lisa won the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) trophy in the Best K-Pop category thanks to the song Rockstar. This trophy marks the second time for the Thai musician to take home a VMA as a soloist.

In her victory speech, the musician whose full name is Lalisa Manoban could not contain her joy at being able to bring home the Moonperson trophy again. "Thank you MTV and VMA for this award. Rockstar is a very meaningful comeback for me after Lalisa," said Lisa. "So this is very special for me," she continued.

Lisa did not forget to express her gratitude to her own label and agency, as well as all BLACKPINK fans who are familiarly called BLINK and Lilies fans who are spread all over the world. "Khap khun kha!" Lisa said in Thai which means thank you.

Lisa managed to beat several other famous nominees consisting of K-Pop groups and idols, starting from BTS's Jung Kook with the song Seven, NCT Dream with Smoothie, NewJeans with Super Shy, Tomorrow X Together (TXT) with Deja Vu, and Stray Kids with Lalalala.

At the annual awards event, Lisa also gave a special performance by singing two of her songs, namely Rockstar and New Woman. The song Rockstar is the first solo comeback project from the musician born in 1997 after releasing his solo debut album titled Lalisa three years ago in 2021.

This song is also Lisa's first after establishing her own label called LLOUD in February 2024. Rockstar was written by Lisa in collaboration with James Essien, Brittany Amaradio, Lucy Healey, Ryan Tedder, and Sam Homaee.

Ryan Tedder and Sam Homaee also acted as music producers for the development of the song. Not only that, Rockstar is also Lisa's first project with LLOUD in collaboration with RCA Records.

RCA Records itself is an international hit label that has housed many popular musicians, such as Foo Fighters, ASAP Rocky, Doja Cat, SZA, and Latto. The 2024 MTV VMAs will be held at the UBS Arena, New York on Wednesday September 11, 2024 or Thursday September 12, 2024 morning Indonesian time.
