ITZY has been confirmed to be making a comeback with a full lineup with Lia in October 2024. Reported from Ten Asia's coverage on Wednesday September 4, 2024, the girl group from South Korea was reported to be making a new comeback. Previously, Lia as one of the ITZY members had announced a hiatus due to health problems.
The musician did not join ITZY's last comeback. However, Lia was confirmed to join the latest comeback. This upcoming comeback will be ITZY's latest release after releasing a mini album titled BORN TO BE on January 8, 2024. However, there is still no further information regarding the schedule until ITZY's comeback album.
Previously, JYP Entertainment, as the agency that debuted the girl group that sang the song Sneakers, announced Lia's hiatus due to extreme health problems in September 2023. Lia experienced tension and anxiety during group activities which led to her deciding to go on hiatus and undergo medical treatment.
"With the artist's health as our top priority, after careful discussion with the members, we have decided that Lia will not participate in scheduled activities starting today and will temporarily take a break to focus on her treatment," JYP Entertainment wrote on September 18, 2023.
Through an official statement uploaded by JYP Entertainment in July 2024, the agency gave an update on the musician's condition. Lia is said to be returning to join all ITZY activities including the latest comeback. "Lia's symptoms of stress and anxiety have improved thanks to treatment and rest," the agency said, as reported by Soompi.
"Therefore, after careful discussion with Lia, it has been decided that she will resume her activities starting with ITZY's new album, which will be released in the second half of this year," JYP Entertainment continued. Meanwhile, ITZY has just finished their second world tour that started in February in Seoul, South Korea.
The group consisting of Ye-ji, Ryu-jin, Lia, Yu-na, and Chae-ryeong held concerts in 28 regions across Asia, North and South America, and Europe for a total of 32 concerts. After completing their world concert tour, ITZY is preparing to hold their third official fan meeting in November 2024.
