Margot Robbie has officially been tapped as a producer for the film adaptation of the popular video game The Sims. The video game is confirmed to be brought to the big screen and has entered the development stage following Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog which have already been released in the market.

AFP reports that the film will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Margot Robbie's company LuckyChap is also helping with the adaptation. The Sims movie will be directed by Kate Herron. She is known for the TV series Loki and the Netflix series Sex Education.

This news comes about six months after rumors surfaced that Margot Robbie's company would produce The Sims movie. The Sims game itself is a spin-off of the previous simulation game, SimCity, which invites players to build dream cities and buildings.

The Sims this time focuses more on personal property which allows players to arrange and organize everything in their personal home. The Sims can also make its virtual characters connect with other virtual characters. The game and its three sequels have sold more than 200 million copies over the past 25 years.

Developer Electronic Arts is also producing a version of the game for players to play with. The Sims game has gained rapid popularity for a long time because it allows people to have a freely designed virtual home, even though this game does not have a specific storyline for the film.

There is still not much information regarding the continuation of the film, including the content and plot that will be used in The Sims film. In addition, there is also no schedule regarding the screening of the film and the actors who will enliven the film.

A number of film titles adapted from video games have already been popular in the market, such as the Mario Bros Movie, and the Barbie film which became the highest-grossing film last year. In addition, there is also Sonic the Hedgehog, Uncharted, and the television series The Last of Us which is preparing to continue its second season in 2025.
