Netflix has officially renewed the Outer Banks series for a fifth season, which will also be its final season. Creators and executive producers, Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke, announced the news via a 'Message to all Pogues' which can be read in full on the X Netflix account post.
" At the time, seven years ago, it seemed impossible to tell the full story of these five seasons, but now, at the end of season four, we are still fighting. This fourth season has been the longest and most difficult – but also the most rewarding – to produce.
It concludes with a long-form episode, which we believe is our best and most memorable. We hope you feel the same way ," the official statement read, quoted on Tuesday November 5, 2024. " It is with a little sadness but also a lot of excitement that we close out season four and move on to season five.
We look forward to bringing our beloved Pogues back home in a way that we have envisioned and planned for years. Season five will be our last and we are confident that it will be our best yet. We hope you will join us once again for the ride to the final wave ," he continued.
Outer Banks has proven to be one of Netflix's biggest hits. The first part of the fourth season has spent the past three weeks in the Top 10 English-language TV series on Netflix. Since its premiere in 2020, the series has spent a total of 27 weeks in the Top 10. The second part of Outer Banks' fourth season will premiere on Netflix on November 7, 2024.
The cast for the fourth season includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, Austin North, Fiona Palomo, J. Anthony Crane, Pollyanna McIntosh, Brianna Brown, Rigo Sanchez, Mia Challism, and Cullen Moss.
In season four, the Pogues are once again drawn into G's game as they search for Blackbeard's treasure. Much like the Royal Merchant gold and El Dorado, this quest puts their lives in danger. In the midst of the adventure, JJ must also face the shocking truth about his family's origins.
Outer Banks itself is included in the list of popular Netflix teen series, along with other favorite titles such as Wednesday, Stranger Things, Ginny and Georgia, Cobra Kai, Heartstopper, XO, Kitty, and My Life With the Walter Boys.
